Roy Thomas, from Youngsville, North Carolina, had worked in construction for several years before he was seriously injured in an on-the-job accident. Mr. Thomas’ construction work often involved frequent climbing of ladders, use of power tools, repetitive motion and carrying of heavy supplies. Mr. Thomas was working as a carpenter on a construction site in Raleigh, North Carolina when he went to pick up a piece of plywood and fell to the ground from a three story building.
