Seven attorneys and nine paralegals and legal assistants make up the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin’s workers’ compensation department, which has represented hundreds of injured clients. These dedicated employees understand workers’ compensation laws and the complex aspects of a workers’ compensation case.

The workers’ compensation staff is composed of members who are bilingual, who have more than 10 years of workers’ compensation and/or civil litigation experience and who formerly worked at the North Carolina Industrial Commission, and one member who is a licensed adjuster.

Zoila Barraza
Legal Assistant (Bilingual)

Zoila Barraza is based out of our Durham, North Carolina office where she works as a bilingual legal assistant. She relocated to North Carolina from Long Island, New York. She brings with her 15 years of customer service and administrative experience. In her spare time, Ms. Barraza enjoys dancing, swimming and spending time with her family and friends.

Nancy Blanton
Legal Assistant
Nancy Blanton has been with the firm since the spring of 2002. She had over nine years of experience with the North Carolina Industrial Commission before joining the worker’s compensation team. Presently she assists the lawyers of our workers’ compensation team in preparing cases for mediation, litigation, and settlement.

Kathy Coleman
Senior Paralegal
Kathy Coleman has been with the firm since 2002. She has worked as a paralegal for 14 years. Ms. Coleman works in our Durham office in the workers’ compensation department and works closely with our clients and workers’ compensation attorneys to manage sometimes complex case mediation, litigation and settlements.

Pam Chastain
Paralegal
Pam Chastain has been with the firm since 2002. She has worked as a paralegal for seven years and now works in the Durham office as part of the workers’ compensation team, where she assists clients with workers’ compensation case mediation, litigation and settlements.

Cherie Hatton
Paralegal (Bilingual)
Originally from Miami, Cherie Hatton moved to the Raleigh area in 2003 and joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in the summer of 2006. Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Hatton has over 15 years of legal experience and most recently worked for insurance companies and with defense firms in the areas of litigation and workers’ compensation.

Susan Middour
Paralegal (Bilingual)
Susan Middour has been with the Law Office of James Scott Farrin since 2001. She works with our workers’ compensation lawyers, our clients and their insurance companies to negotiate workers’ compensation settlements. She is instrumental in securing successful case closures for our clients.

Kenya Reynard
Case Manager (Bilingual)
Kenya Reynard is originally from Florida and moved to North Carolina in 2002. She works as a Case Manager at James Scott Farrin and is pleased to assist our Spanish-speaking clients with their sometimes complex workers’ compensation concerns. She also assists as an intake specialist and Spanish translator. Before joining our firm she employed her considerable customer service skills as a sales manager for a major retail organization and in debt management.

Crystal Swisher
Paralegal
Crystal Swisher is a resident of Alamance County, North Carolina, and lives with her husband and three dogs. She has worked in various areas of the law over the last 23 years, with workers’ compensation law being a favorite practice area.

Roberta Vance
Paralegal
Roberta Vance joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in December 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Vance worked at an insurance defense firm in Raleigh for nearly seven years. Before her law firm experience, she also worked for almost six years at the North Carolina Industrial Commission.
